Experiences versus Books

                                 Experiences Versus Books

It is very well said that not everything that is learned is contained in books. Knowledge can be gained from anything, anyone, and anytime. There is no boundary to gain knowledge; you can gain knowledge and learn things from both books as well as from experiences. We can learn either from experience or from books. The source is not considered much when it comes to Knowledge. But these sources of knowledge become very important when compared. There are many other ways but most of us consider in general that books and experiences are the best among them.

Experience is something you gain from doing any task which can either be cooking or washing clothes, utensils, visiting or traveling different places, and many more. Experience is the golden key to unlock the door of success. It will make you more caring, more sensible, and most importantly wiser in your life. A person can achieve many things and even the greatest things from experiences that he/she has gained in his or her life. Here we can consider the example of a world-famous scientist Thomas Alva Edison. He was a very weak child in studies. He had been admitted to a hostel in his school. During the summer break when he was going back to his home, his teacher sent his parents a letter requesting them to take him out of the school and further declared that he was never going to do good in studies. After that, his parents never send him back to school. He used to perform different experiments in his own house and in his thousandth experiment he succeeded to invent the light bulb which turned out to be the greatest achievement of the century.

Just like people become successful by applying their experiences in their life, they also become successful by gaining knowledge from books. In this case, we can consider the example of the famous writer of Nepal Jhamak Ghimire. Although being handicapped and having a disability in speaking, she wrote a book specifically her own autobiography with her left foot. Her book won thousands of hearts and she received the Noble prize of Nepal also known as "Madan Puraskar" for her book. She is very intelligent and her thinking ability is also very great. And this is all because of the knowledge she gained from books. She was never sent to school or any university but she writes and shares her ideas and views more or less like a great scholar.

In my opinion, both experience and books are sources of knowledge and they are equally important to learn about something completely. Neither only books nor only experience is enough to learn something wholly. In the present context, the world and its demands are changing rapidly. In this situation, a person must be flexible enough to gain knowledge from all the sources available whether it is an experience from work or knowledge from books. It is more important to gain as much knowledge as possible than to classify which source for knowledge is more important. So in my opinion, all the sources of knowledge and skills are equally important but above all of this, the knowledge we gain is more important. And I think this way because whenever you are asked any question you are only expected to answer the question rather than to mention how you learned it by experience or from books?

As a whole, I feel learning is the most thing than anything else. The knowledge we gain from experience may differ from the knowledge we gain from books but the sources or ways are equally important and our aim should be to learn as much as we can but not to compare the significance of the ways or sources from which we learn. It will aid our holistic development as well.
